The Domoe Katana is an Ashigaru-Class blade from Skyjiro Forge. This sharp, mono-steel katana blade is crafted from .75% high carbon steel. The blade has been Through-Hardened for a uniform steel hardness. After tempering, the blade was polished with Japanese water stones. The blade was crafted with a long Bo-Hi groove that reduces weight while retaining blade strength. The Bo-Hi also disturbs the air as the katana is swung, making an audible ‘’whoosh’’ as the blade ‘’cuts’’ the air.
The fittings of this katana feature the Domoe symbol. This symbol in its various forms is a representative of the Shinto-Buddhist War god Hachiman. Naturally, this symbol was a regular adornment of samurai arms and armor.
The Tsuba, Fuchi and Kashira fittings are cast in darkened brass with their details picked out in bright brass. The habaki and seppa are of brass. The tsuka grip is wrapped with rayskin and is tightly overlaid with black silk tsuka-ito. Two brass menuki lie beneath the tsuka-ito.
The wooden saya scabbard is coated in black lacquer. The mouth of the scabbard, the Koiguchi, is of water buffalo horn. A black sageo cord is knotted to the scabbard. The sword comes with a Skyjiro production certificate.
